Check out this book for the male perspective of being an adolescent in high school. It can be considered the opposite of Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Thanks for posting Miss Murray! I'm always looking for new texts to adopt to my syllabus. I've used Speak a few times now, and I'm thinking it's time to do something a little different. While I may keep Speak, it'd be good to have more texts with male narrators. With Monster, we meet Steve...
The cover of this novel really grabbed me. Even though I probably shouldn't admit to this, when looking for new books to read, if I end up at the library without doing any prior research of titles or authors, I always look for attractive book covers. I was immediately interested, even before I clicked on the summary link. I am also a fanatic about sports so the picture of the field also captured my attention. The goods news is, I added it to my summer reading list!
