The Lost Generation

The link below shows a poem that has two perspectives on life depending on how it is read and would a be good teaching tool for poetry as well as promote discussion on how and why the current generation of young people may be apathetic towards making a successful life.

The video format also fits into the multiliteracies shared by young adolescent readers.

Check it out! Very cool!

  1. Thanks for sharing this, Miss Murray! I have found that poetry, in particular spoken word and performance poetry, is an excellent way to engage young people in the literacy classroom.

  2. Wow! The Lost Generation is a powerful piece. My son, who is 13 just finished a poetry unit and as I read through his work I was impressed. The power that the words and there order captures is infinite in possibilities.
